Sometimes we want to force a post to the top of our main page. To do that, we need to change the date of our post.
First open the post you want to edit. At the bottom left of the editor there is a "Post Options" link:
Click "Post Options" and the post date and time fields will appear in the bottom right corner of the editor:
Change the date to how you see fit and click "Publish Post". For example, if it's a special Christmas message, set the post date to 12/25/07 at 11:59 PM and your message will stay on the main page at the top of the posts until midnight Christmas day.

i was looking for something like this ...thanks alot
I wish that there was a way that you could make a post for the future that won't display until that date.
For example, if today is Wednesday and I want to create a post for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I would create these posts and put the post date for those days.
If I do that now they will still display on my blog. I wish there was a way that it would not display until that date.
I realize that I could save them as drafts and use those post dates in the draft and then just publish them on each day; however, I wish there was a way that I could publish them and they wouldn't display on my blog until that day. If the system would do this, then I could create posts for my blog for a week, and not have to actually sign into my blog every day to publish the post.
You have a nice blog, by the way. :)
Thanks Catherine.
For my particular post, I really wanted to have the title 'Days of Yore' displayed in the right border but it's still ordered by date so I ended up picking the oldest date the system allows which is 1/1/1970.
I'm sure they'll be coming out with enhancements so I'll just be patient and, in the meantime, hope that people will be curious about 1970! :-)
